Controlling the crystal structure is a powerful approach for manipulating the fundamental properties otcontrol can be achieved by modifyingsolids. Unique to two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals materials, thethe interlayer stacking order through rotation and translation between the lavers. Taking the advantage oscanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spin-polarized STM,I will give two examples of the atomicallyresolved stacking modulated spin and electronic structures in 2D heterostructure. The first is the stackingdependent interlayer magnetic coupling and the second is electronic solid formed by interlayer chargetranster states. Our observations provide direct approach to explore the stacking dependent physics anopave the way for manipulating 2D spin and electronic structure with unigue layer twist angle control.
